Round 7 AZOP Mormon Lake
"Car was fixed up from last race and finally had 4wd ready for this race weekend. We were super excited and pumped to get back on the track! Saturday practice went smooth as for the most part. The track was the same as last round but with the large amounts of rain that Mormon Lake received, lots of the corners were closed off and cut short. Many of the spots had a foot of standing water. Got on the line and were 4 wide. Green flag waived and all 4 of us were full throttle to the corner and no one lifted so it was an exciting start with lots of rubbing. Ended up 3rd off the line into the first turn. By lap 3 was able to get by everyone but my teammate who ran a proven tire setup run in other series which was perfect for this track............ Then the rain started and everything got interesting and super slick. Lap 4 came around and I was out of tear offs and had to run the last 6 laps with my visor up getting pelted by mud and rain. I was hanging back watching the 2 cars in front of me battle it out waiting for a mistake but couldn't stay as close as I wanted since I had no vison. Raced a clean race all the way to the last lap when the 2 cars battling it out in front of me made a mistake and spun out. I then took the number one spot and finish for Saturday!
After Saturday's race we all went back to the pits to clean off as much mud as we could from the cars as it was a lot of extra weight! Hundreds of pounds more. Got up to the line on Sunday and got a good start but with the ground being much dryer and my teammate running a killer setup for the track he took off on me. I was pushing the car hard enough to keep my position as my teammate was maintain the same distance of a lead every lap so I was just holding my position at this point and making sure I secured a P2 finish. My teammate unfortunately had a mechanical failure on the 2nd to last lap and I was able to take a P1 spot on the track and cross the finish line with a P1 finish. I was able to secure a P1 both days in class and overall.
This was a great weekend overall and there is no way I would be able to keep the pace I do on the track and throughout the year without the support I have from my sponsors. We run the best to give us the best chance of winning and we prove that every race. Thank you for all your support!"
